Freedom in Release

Part of the Tattoo Stories series – symbols that carry survival, identity, and resilience.

Gentle reflection: This post touches on remembrance and letting go.

Photograph of a black ink tattoo on the inner forearm in warm vintage style with a subtle sepia overlay. The design shows a feather releasing three birds in flight, all facing toward the wrist.

A feather with birds in flight – my symbol of letting go, of rising above what once weighed me down.

It also honours those I’ve lost, reminding me they’re flying free, even as I carry them in memory.

It reminds me that sharing our stories of release and remembrance helps others find freedom in their own ways, too.

What helps you let go when something heavy lingers?
