Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 18 May 2026

WovenAware is committed to accessibility, inclusion, and respectful communication.

This website aims to support access across different communication needs, technologies, and preferences.

Accessibility is not only a technical requirement; it is part of how WovenAware communicates and connects.

Our Commitment

WovenAware aims to:

  • provide clear and readable content

  • use simple and meaningful language

  • support accessible communication

  • create calm and easy navigation

  • design content that is usable and inclusive

  • centre Deaf-led perspectives and lived experience

The aim is to create a space where information can be explored clearly, calmly, and respectfully.

This website aims to align with recognised accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), where reasonably possible.

Accessibility Features

Accessibility is supported through:

  • clear page structure and headings

  • consistent navigation

  • readable fonts and colour contrast

  • descriptive links

  • alternative text for images

  • simple and structured language

  • predictable layout and design

While every effort is made to support accessibility across the website, some areas may still be developing over time.

Signed Content and Communcation

WovenAware includes a combination of:

  • signed content

  • reflective written spaces

  • imagery and visual storytelling

  • structured navigation and accessible layouts

Some visitors may connect more easily through BSL, while others may prefer written English or visual reflection.

Different forms of communication are recognised and valued throughout the space.

Subtitles

English subtitles are provided on signed video content where applicable to support access across Deaf and hearing audiences.

This currently includes:

  • Amplify

  • Deaf Parenting

Some areas of WovenAware are intentionally shared through reflective written content, imagery, and structured visual storytelling rather than signed video.

WovenAware’s approach to accessibility has continued to develop over time.

Earlier content shared on social platforms may include signed videos without English subtitles.

Current website content reflects a more consistent approach, with signed videos supported by English subtitles where appropriate.

Limitations

While WovenAware aims to support accessible content and communication, some areas of the website may not yet be fully accessible.

This may include:

  • older content

  • third-party integrations

  • evolving features

Accessibility continues to be reviewed and improved over time.

Feedback is welcome to help identify barriers and improve access.
