Accessibility is part of how WovenAware approaches communication, content and website design.
Shaped by Deaf lived experience, WovenAware recognises that people have different communication needs, preferences and ways of accessing information.
This statement explains the accessibility features currently available, areas being reviewed and how visitors can report barriers or request information in another format.
WovenAware considers recognised accessibility guidance, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as the website develops. This does not mean that every page or feature has been formally assessed for WCAG conformance.
Website Accessibility
WovenAware aims to support accessibility through:
Clear page structure and headings
Consistent navigation
Readable text and colour contrast
Descriptive links
Alternative text for informative images
Clear and direct written language
Layouts designed to adapt across different screen sizes
Keyboard-accessible navigation and controls where implemented
WovenAware Display Options also allows visitors to:
Increase text size
Choose alternative reading colours
Reduce animations
Selected pages and features have been checked using keyboard navigation, enlarged text, browser zoom and mobile layouts.
Accessibility continues to be reviewed as the website develops and content changes. These checks do not guarantee that every accessibility barrier has been identified or resolved.
Signed, Written & Visual Content
WovenAware uses written English, British Sign Language (BSL) videos and visual content.
The BSL videos currently published on WovenAware are presented without voiceover and include English subtitles.
Different sections use different forms of communication depending on their content.
Not every page or article is available in BSL or another alternative format. The aim is to make information clear and accessible without unnecessary complexity.
Known Limitations
WovenAware continues to review and improve accessibility.
Areas that may require further review or improvement include:
Text readability and layout at different sizes and zoom levels
Older content and its presentation
Third-party tools and integrations
Features that continue to develop
Accessibility across different devices, browsers and assistive technologies
Some third-party content or tools may not respond to WovenAware's Display Options.
WovenAware also does not control the accessibility of external websites or services linked from this site.
Accessibility is an ongoing process, and visitors are encouraged to report barriers they encounter.

Where possible, WovenAware will consider ways to provide the information in a more accessible format or address the barrier.
When reporting an issue, it can be helpful to explain which page or feature is affected and what would improve access.
