Voicet That Rises

Part of the Tattoo Stories series – symbols that carry survival, identity, and resilience.

Gentle reflection: This post touches on survival and finding voice after struggle.

Maya Angelou gave me words when I had none. “Still I Rise” became a mirror of survival, dignity, and power.

In my darkest seasons, these words felt like a lifeline – a reminder that even when broken down by trauma, I could stand again. This tattoo is a tribute to Maya’s voice, but also to the one I found through struggle: a voice that refuses silence.

It grounds me in resilience, but also in community. Rising is never just personal; it’s collective. We rise, together.

It reminds me that sharing our voices keeps Maya’s message alive, rising becomes something we do together.
