Between Two Worlds

Part of the Personal Anchor series – moments that root identity and meaning.

There’s a quiet ache in living between two worlds.

In one, you’re too Deaf to belong.

In the other, you’re too hearing to be understood.

You spend years learning how to translate yourself, not just your words, but your whole being.

You become fluent in switching, adapting, and smoothing the edges.

And sometimes, that fluency hides the fatigue that comes with it.

But here’s what I’ve learned:

Belonging doesn’t have to mean fitting perfectly into either world.

It can mean standing in the space between and claiming it as your own.

What does belonging mean to you?
