Hearing Technology
Sometimes, people wonder how Deaf parents can support a child who uses hearing technology.
I've been part of my Deaf child’s hearing journey for years.
I've attended appointments, asked questions, learned new information, and supported decisions along the way.
Assumption:
"Do Deaf parents understand their child's hearing aids or cochlear implant?"
Truth:
"Parenting is about learning, supporting, and growing alongside your child."
What often gets missed is that understanding doesn't depend on hearing.
It depends on being involved.
I've learned about technology, equipment, appointments, and the choices that affect my child's life.
Not because I can hear what he hears.
Because I'm his parent.
Being Deaf has never stopped me from supporting my child's journey.
It has simply meant learning about it in my own way.
