People often assume stories need to be spoken to be shared.
Storytelling in our home doesn’t rely on sound.
We share stories through signing, facial expression, and visual detail.
Children follow meaning through what they see, not what they hear.
This is where assumptions limit understanding, not storytelling itself.
Assumption:
“Deaf parents can’t read bedtime stories aloud.”
Truth:
“Stories are shared through sign, expression, and interaction. They don’t depend on voice to be understood or enjoyed.”
Stories don’t become less. They are experienced differently.
What kind of stories do you love sharing with your children?
