My Hero’s Journey | Part 4: Meeting the Mentor

Guidance and Safety

Sometimes the right people appear when I am finally ready to recognise what their presence means.

They did not rescue me.

They did not take the journey from me.

What they offered was something quieter than that.

Safety.

Gentleness.

A way of being with me that did not demand performance, silence, or self-erasure.

They reminded me, often without trying to, that I was capable all along.

That I could question what I had normalised.

That I could trust what I felt.

Looking back, I can see that this was my meeting with the mentor.

Not because someone showed me who to become, but because their presence helped me remember something I had been losing touch with in myself.

And in that remembering, the journey felt less impossible.
