A Homecoming To Myself
After years of feeling lost, I found myself again through creativity.
My final year at college reminded me that my ideas had value.
And slowly, I began remembering that I did too.
I was one of two Deaf students in a hearing class, and I finished as the top student.
But when I look back, the result isn’t what stays with me most.
It’s what happened inside me along the way.
Standing beside my final project, I could see how far I had come from the version of myself who had felt unseen and unsure of her place.
Every late night.
Every idea I kept developing.
Every small step back towards believing in myself.
The qualification mattered.
But this was more than graduation.
It was a homecoming to the part of me I thought I’d lost.
For my younger self.
For the part of me that stayed.
