Recovery, In Awareness | Stage 7: Living Forward
Personal Anchor series (Anchor Journeys)
Living forward doesn’t mean leaving everything behind.
It means no longer organising my life around what hurt me.
The past still exists.
Some days it speaks louder than others.
But it no longer decides who I am becoming.
Living forward looks quieter than I once imagined.
Less urgency.
Fewer explanations.
It shows up in the choices I make without rehearsing them.
In the boundaries I hold without needing to defend them.
In the ease I feel when something aligns and the clarity when it doesn’t.
I don’t measure this stage by happiness or closure.
I measure it by steadiness.
There is space now for curiosity.
For creativity.
For relationships that don’t require me to shrink or brace myself.
Living forward isn’t about proving resilience.
It’s about trusting that I don’t need to stay in survival mode to be safe.
This stage doesn’t ask me to forget.
It asks me to live rooted, aware, and present.
And that, I’ve learned, is enough.
