The Feeling I Remember Most

Cartoon-style personal anchor illustration of Deaf parents with one Deaf child and two hearing children, smiling together on an outdoor ride. Trees and fencing are in the background, with a warm golden filter over the image.

It was a small moment, but it stayed with me.

We were sitting together on a ride, smiling, enjoying the day like any other family.

Nothing remarkable was happening.

No big milestone. No special occasion.

Just a moment together.

Looking back, I think that's why it matters so much.

Some of the memories I treasure most aren't the big events.

They're the ordinary moments where everyone is present, everyone belongs, and nobody has to think about it.

A photograph captures a second.

A memory holds much more.

When I look at this one, I don't think about where we were or what we did next.

I remember how it felt to be there together.

Sometimes that's enough.
