My Hero’s Journey | Part 9: The Reward (Seizing the Sword)
Reclaiming My Story
When I finally told my story, I felt something begin to lift.
Not all at once.
Not completely.
But enough to notice that the weight was no longer sitting in the same place.
Writing became an act of reclaiming.
A way of gathering the pieces I had carried quietly and placing them somewhere they could finally breathe.
For so long, my voice had been shaped around survival.
Softened.
Questioned.
Held back.
But when I began writing truthfully, I realised my voice had always belonged to me.
It did not need permission.
It did not need force.
It just needed space.
Looking back, I can see this was the reward.
Not a prize at the end of pain, but the return of something I thought I had lost.
My story.
My voice.
My right to name what was mine.
